Human Traffic (1999) Reviews

Human Traffic (1999)
Member Rating:
A group of British youths try to escape their pointless, hum-drum lives with weekends of drug-fueled debauchery in the comedy Human Traffic. Jip (John Simm) works at a shop selling jeans, and his best friend Koop (Shaun Parkes) is an aspiring hip-hop artist who has a day job at a record store. Nina (Nicola Reynolds), Koop's girlfriend, is employed at a burger joint; her best friend is Lulu (Lorraine Pilkington), who has a uniformly low opinion of men. Moff (Danny Dyer) is a waste-case who lives with his father and deals drugs to the group. Come Friday evening, Moff supplies the Ecstasy, the six friends head out to the club, and they spend the next 48 hours playing the popular game "Annihilate This Week." Human Traffic was the directorial debut for filmmaker Justin Kerrigan, who reportedly had problems raising financing due to the film's refusal to explicitly condemn the use of drugs or the actions of its protagonists. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

I could really relate to this movie, having been through the rave scene. It's well-written, funny and surprisingly realistic. What hip 20-something couldn't relate to this movie? Sex, drugs and "house" music, along with a humorous yet unflinching view of all that goes with it in swinging London. The romance part of it is also really sweet actually. Solid acting in this "docudromedy" too.

This is a great comedy for all college aged kids. It should be talked in the same category as "Fast Times at Ridgemont High","Dazed and Confused" and "Road Trip". This movie moves fast and is just not what you expect, this is a top notch rental and would suggest you have it in your collection.I have introduced so many people and they have gone out and bought it.Great movie!!

Another good low-income party/rave movie! Similar to the movie Groove, party monster, and any other movie all about partying and having fun. This is a good insite to the typical teenager who has to work crappy jobs all day but then work for the weekend and live it up. A must see partyer/raver movie!

Review 352: quirky and self indulgant in the rave scene style, this film sports a happier tone from the beginning than it's dialogue mentioned predecessor "Trainspotting" while the film takes more time developing the characters than introducing them.

This movie painted a great picture of what it's like to be a part of this scene. Really entertaining drug movie with good acting and goo side stories, high recommended.

Terrible movie. I watched it for 35 minutes and it never got going, so I turned it off. They were trying hard to make it hip and funny but failed. Very weak story line. Don't waste your time on this one.
