This movie accurately depicts the silliness and irresponsibility of the wealthy in the depression years. It shows how they dumbed down the arts, used the media, and the legal system, to confuse and keep the poor poor. Of course, in less than 50 years, people will look back on our times and shake their heads at the irresponsibility and silliness of our rich - if mankind still exists.

Cradle will rock is an example of a movie that I would have never seen if Bill Murray wasn't in it. He has painfully little to do in this movie and none of his performance is all that interesting. This whole movie is a self important pretentious load of crap. It takes a historical period in time and never does it much justice. the subject is too broad to cover in 2 hours and 10 minutes. I found it too long and boring. Besides that Tim Robbins has made a film he thought was ambitious and thought provoking, but it's actually underwhelming, hypocritical, and lackluster. Lots of stars in this movie, but no real meaningful content. Skip this junk, it sucks.

This wasn't a very good movie. There was so much going on at the same time that it was confusing for the viewer. Coming from another country, I am somewhat familiar with the history. I knew about the Diego Rivera part because I have studied Spanish fairly recently. Sometimes I found the characters tiresome.

Such a wide subject needs more time than this movie could give. Somewhat historically correct (so as to make it funny), is not what Cradle Will Rock needed. In my opinion, it is a waste of time....unless you use this as an outline of sorts, and then study the real deal.
