James is right, he didn't need the second "sister" wife to make the story work, and of course the cops would be better at their jobs in real life than they were in the film, but it was fun. And Jerome is right too, you wouldn't watch it twice, but how many films do you want to watch twice? Pretty rare occasion for me. Enjoy it for what it is. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Several things (like Kevin Spacey's character having an open marriage with his wife's sister) exist as toss-ins to the story, with no elaboration, explanation, contribution, or relevance to the plot. Kinda odd. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

More of a comedy than a drama. Spacey and his gang of theives go around pulling heists and they have a group of keystone cops tripping over themselves trying to catch the gang. Didn't make a whole lot of sense and I guess it was okay to watch once. I won't watch it twice. Some of the accents are hard to understand. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

The General was made a year earlier covering pretty much the same material in a much more realistic way. Although it does not quite have the star power, most of the stars in this movie were wasted anyway. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More Enjoyable enough, but the main characters aren't expanded enough on for you to feel anything for them (except maybe wonder at how a guy ends up with two wives who are sisters, something that seems to have just been thrown into the film for the hell of it!). This kind of thing has all been done before, and much better (see Thomas Crown Affair, Entrapment). Basically just Spacey picking up a paycheck. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? I think it was made in 1997, somethin like that. I had a crappy region-free DVD copy of it with no features and it lacked in picture quality. Anyway, this os one of Spacey's finest. His character is the title - "ordinary decent criminal". He has a wife and kid, another wife and kid. Oh by the way - they are sisters (YES!) and he's just tryin to make it by without having to shuck potatoes in Ireland. Yes yes, Colin Farrell is in it too, yet his part is pretty small. They just put him on the cover to sell more copies to the star-f@#$%@s. Spacey is the real star. His character is likeable and the jobs him and his gang pull are clever and sometimes funny. See this underrated film ! Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
