They did a great job of tying two families, one white, the other black, together to show what it is like growing up in the turbulent 60's! Several of the major events of the 60's are woven in to the movie, so you get to see real film footage as well. I wish my history teacher in high school would have shown this before or after our unit on the 1960's, as I would have understood that era better than I did!

I'm sorry, but I CANNOT stomach Julia Stiles ! Great movie otherwise - great timepiece and history lesson for those of you who did not experience the 60s.
