My wife practically had to make me watch it, but we both ended up loving it. A very funny treatment of innocent boy meets streetwise girl. Well written with great dialog. Brendan Fraser usually isn't a very good actor (unless he isn't talking much like in Encino Man), but he was perfect in this. Alicia Silverstone is at her best since Clueless. Fans of Christopher Walken may especially enjoy it - he and Sissy Spacek are great as the quirky 60ish parents. I recommend this to a lot of people.

Read More Fraser and Silverstone do an excellent job in a very funny and touching movie. Silverstone is very easy to watch and Brendan plays it perfectly as the fish out of water. I love the camera work and the music is great to listen to. The close up of Silverstone biting her lower lip just kills me. I'm not a big Walken fan but he does a great job as the slightly-off scientist. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No | ||

Read More The Movie starts off fantastic but turns out to be a cheesy love story. The entire movie revolves around a cheesy love story of two characters that just lack chemistry, depth, and connection. The worst part about it is the leading lady, Alicia Silverstone, and her horrible acting. She fails to be convincing of her role in her oversdressed, overstyled frumped curls, and bold makeup designed more for an evening look then a supposedly casual toned character. She kills the magic of the movie from the moment she appears on screen, fumbling atop platform heels and hairsprayed curls that look anything but natural. She even ran outside with an umbrella in the rain from the house to the backyard in platform heels. Her character just did no justice to the movie. It's hard to feel anything for the two main characters love saga, it was very predictable and done so many times in movies. The rest of the movie, aside the cheesy love story, was fine to watch.
