He made you hate him in the beginning, but then as he softens, you soften also. You somewhat have a filling as to the tragedy that takes place and just wonder when. Edward Furlong was very good. I am not a fan of Stacy Keach and glad he had a small role in this movie. His role was significant, because it shows how some young people can be misguided. Read More The premise is enough to scare away some people. I happen to like movies that take a risk (my main reason for supporting Brokeback Mountain), and I have a fascination for the Nazi phenomenon, so this movie was an eventuality. It began on a tacky note; but I forgive it because the movie elevated itself the rest of the way. The casting was very good: Edward Norton can do no wrong in my eyes, Beverly D'Angelo surprised me, and whoever plays the black man that Derek befriends in prison did a convincing job. Even the fat Nazi guy from Remember the Titans added believability. Edward Furlong, however, was the weak spot. He did not contribute power; moreover, he sort of sulked around, smoked, and gazed with his droopy eyes. It did a great injury to the movie, because he was the main character.
