I liked this movie for it's charm and wit. I watched it 3 times just so all my friends could see it! Bill Murray is excellent, of course, but Jason Schwartzman takes the cake. Read More Back in '98, I had the opportunity to see this movie in the theater (I was one of four people there...) and I found myself laughing uncontrollably . I have since viewed this movie (I highly recommend the Criterion edition only) easily more than 100 times and I still find myself laughing uncontrollably. This movie boasts Bill Murray's best performance ever, and one of the best soundtracks of all time. This movie is HIGHLY recommended. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Humor is perfect - quirky, witty and genius. Great cinematography - loads of wide screen compositions including motionless character "portraits", allowing time for the audience to view the strip of film as they would a portrait in a gallery, and a very beautiful portrait at that. Brilliant use of color. Anderson seems obsessed with details such as clothing or even something as mundane as a stack of books. The soundrack fits well too, so its pleasing visually and audibly. The charcters are strangely relatable and unpredictable. Max, the into-everything-and-seemingly-brilliant-nerd has the tremendous downfall of horrible grades. His refined British-widow teacher who snacks on carrots skinny dips with old farts and chain smokes. Murry's character, a post-mid-life-crisis man in a depressive funk finds joy passing love notes from a nerd to his teacher or humiliating his family with drunk-dad cannon balls from the high dive. Bill Murry's best performance. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
