Friday the 13th, Part VII: The New Blood (1988)
Member Rating:
Directed by makeup effects artist John Carl Buechler, the seventh in the long-running, grisly horror series was far from the last, although the climactic fate of its antagonist would seem to suggest a final send-off. Lar Park Lincoln stars as Tina Shepard, a teenager with uncontrolled telekinetic powers. As a girl vacationing at Camp Crystal Lake, Tina killed her abusive father with the use of her mental abilities. Years later, seeking intensive counseling from manipulative, greedy psychologist Dr. Crews (Terry Kiser), Tina agrees to participate in a radical therapy that takes her back to Camp Crystal Lake. Unfortunately, Tina's psychic skills rouse the slumbering Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder) from his watery grave and, in typically bloody fashion, the vengeful spook begins dispatching the randy teenagers partying in a house nearby. As Tina attempts to stop Jason's slaughter with the use of her powers, the mass-murdering ghoul encounters his toughest opponent yet. Friday the 13th, Part VII: The New Blood was often referred to by series fans as "Jason vs. Carrie," an apropos reference to Tina's strong similarity to the main character in the horror classic Carrie (1976). ~ Karl Williams, Rovi

Since Jason is a superhuman zombie, why can't the main character have telekinesis, the only way any person would have a fighting chance, since Jason gets stronger with each new movie. The end was a little dumb with the dad, but I really enjoyed this one. A lot of interesting victims.

Part 7? Here we go into a never seeming to end saga. However, I enjoyed this part. Jason looks the coolest in this one. How he's even functioning is a wonder, but by now it's obviously anything's possible. The only problem with this one is after seeing the deleted scenes shipped with the box set, they really went overboard cutting the death scenes. They should have left it how it was originally. The father in the end that comes out of the water was actually originally made to look quite decayed but the Producers had the make up artists redo him to look more freshly dead for some reason. Who looks like that after rotting in a lake for 10 years?!?! Horrible move.

This is probably one of my favorite ones, besides Part VI, Jason Goes to Hell, and Freddy Vs. Jason. It is a great one and it was great to watch and wonder what jason bust have been thinking when he was getting attacked by things that no one was touching. The only thing I didn't like was the ending where the father came back to bring Jason back into the water, that was about the only part that seemed too far fetched. A great film of the slasher genre and a definite must watch of the series. Check it out when you get the chance.

like the 6th one, this one has a lot of intentional campy 80's humor and is just for fun, one of the other high lights of this one is the leading lady who has telekinetic powers, I found all the charactors likeable and plot just pure fun.

Nothing really that great about this movie. It pretty much the same as the old ones with a few minor tweeks but it just seems they added some more graphic violence and found some different ways to kill people. Not that original really and the ending assures u that there will be more to come of course.

I have been watching all of the Friday the 13th movies in order over the last several months and I think this one is one of the better and more memorable sequels in the series. I already don't remember much if anything about parts 2-6, but this one had a lot more going for it.

I look back at this movie now after when I saw it when I was seven, or something... I loved the look of Jason, especially at the end... I know there is no secret to spoil anymore, but I just loved the way he looked sans mask...

If you're wondering what it would be like if "Carrie" meets "The Silence of the Lambs" meets "Jason", this is the film for you. Otherwise, don't expect anything better than the others.

Yeah, Jason looks the coolest ever in this one, with parts of his skeleton visible from flesh decay. But I noticed too that a lot of death scenes were edited way too much, almost like the director was chicken. I haven't seen the director's cut, so oh well. And I did think that the dad in the end was stupid since he hadn't changed at all. Plus the whole woman-with-psychic-abilities is such 80s cheese. Too many movies came out with that concept.
