Friday the 13th, Part VI: Jason Lives (1986) Reviews

Friday the 13th, Part VI: Jason Lives (1986)
Member Rating:
This impressive entry in the popular horror series brings back the relentless killer Jason Voorhees, this time as a supernatural zombie. Tommy Jarvis, now played by Thom Matthews, accidentally resurrects Jason when he impales the killer's corpse with a metal pole during a lightning storm. Numerous murders follow, beginning with Tommy's friend (Ron Palillo) having his heart torn out of his chest by the zombie killer. Implicated in the crimes by a mean-spirited sheriff (David Kagen), Tommy is freed from jail by the sheriff's daughter, spunky Megan (Jennifer Cooke). The cast converges on Camp Crystal Lake, which has been renamed "Camp Forest Green" by superstitious locals, in time for Tommy to send Jason back to the bottom of the lake, if only temporarily. Harry Manfredini's score is among his best, and the makeup by Martin Becker, Gabe Bartalos, R. Chris Biggs, and others is outstanding. Cooke makes an appealing heroine as Megan, although Matthews' Tommy has lost the interesting mental disturbances of previous entries and becomes just another bland hero. Tom McLoughlin's direction is effective, and the film has a memorably funny supporting turn by Bob Larkin as a grumpy drunken caretaker. Alice Cooper sings the title song, "He's Back (The Man Behind the Mask)." Although no classic, this is a solid horror film with a witty script and engaging characters. Jason would rise again to face a telekinetic teen in the disappointing Friday the 13th, Part VII: The New Blood. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

Glad that Jason comes back in this movie, as a superhuman zombie. Still same type story and scares, only now victims don't have much chance of fighting back since Jason is pretty much unstoppable. Enjoyable for any slasher fan.

This one was much better than Part V. I am glad they finally brought back Jason for this one. The gore was great in this one, much better that some of the other ones. Like the cop getting bent in half backwards, that was great. The only thing I hated about this movie is that they brought back Tommy, but with a different actor. I hate when films bring back characters but not the same person to play them. Drives me nuts. But other than that, still a great slasher horror film. If you liked the other Friday the 13th movies, then I definitely recommend this one.

The only thing this movie had going for it was Jason comes back into the main role. Tommy's a punk though - didn't like his character. I liked the Tommy is Part 5 better. Also, not only did they change actors, but it seems like they pretty much omitted what happened in the end of Part 5 - probably for the better.

Blood: 2 Cheese Factor: 5 Acting: 2 Overall: 4 Definetly one of the better Friday the 13th movies. Though the acting was as bad as any of the other films the male lead in this movie for some reason just really seemed to pi$$ me off more than usual, he was soooo over dramatic in every single thing that he did and said! Also the thing that always gets me is the fact that theres like 857 deaths in each movie yet hardly any blood, whats up with that!? One way or another if your a Friday the 13th fan or even if your not check this one out!

This actually wasnt as horrible as the others. But I was amazed at the stupidity of the characters.

The plots of every episode are weakly linked together. Through an eleborate mishappen and a bolt of lightning Jason is brought back to life... you fill in the blanks.
