To say that Chuck Norris is the star of Force of One may smack of redundancy. Norris is cast as Vietnam vet Matt Logan, assigned to instruct a big-city narcotics squad in the intricacies of martial arts. His star pupil turns out to be Detective Mandy Rust (Jennifer O'Neill). Initially disinterested in law enforcement, Logan is galvanized into action when his adopted son is killed by the villains. Force of One was designed as a follow-up of (though not a sequel to) the money-spinning Norris vehicle Good Guys Wear Black. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

One of Norris' better movies, mainly because the character seems closer to Norris' real life (karate champ, teacher) than the cops or killing machines he played elsewhere. In fact, the sparring scene with Eric Laneuville was probably the most relaxed he ever appeared on camera, which is saying something considering how many movies and TV shows he's made since. Movie had a lot of good supporting actors too, like Clu Gulager and James Whitmore Jr., which always helps (that's why CODE OF SILENCE was so much better than his normal fare.) Bill "Superfoot" Wallace also made a good enemy for Norris to square off with. Enjoyable movie, especially when compared to later failures like TOP DOG and FOREST WARRIOR.

This movie started off pretty good. Your ideal Chuck flick. Though it was unplayable after 40 min. Wish I could had watched the whole movie. This is the second time I've recieved a scratched unplayable disc in a month. The first time was with another movie "The Day After". I requested a replacement and they sent me the same damaged one I sent back to them. Not worth taking the risk. Oh well.
