Excellent sci-fi adventure. Dated, but for 1956, excellent. Great classic storyline. I first saw this movie as a 6 year old child and 43 years later still love the film. If someone with todays technology in the film making industry would remake this fine classic it could truly be even more outstanding than it already is. Simply a great sci-fi classic.

A movie for the all ages, this Sci-Fi classic still works. For those who only know Leslie Nielsen from the “Naked Gun” films will be surprised to see him so straightly playing the leading man.

If you're a fan of Star Trek, or a fan of 50's Sci-Fi, then you'll enjoy it as an historical trend-setter. Otherwise, not much plot. Story, acting is C+.

Truly one of the great classic sci-fi films! The special effects are still pretty good, even for today's standards. The acting is decent, but it's the plotline that truly shines - a little Shakespeare, combined with some Freud, and shaken up to produce an interesting, entertaining movie. Definitely worth watching!

A superb example of science fiction made 50 years ago. This film probably has the first use of pulse lasers, hyperspace, molecular generation & video phones. It uses the 3-man away team (capt./first officer/doctor) used in Star Trek 12 years later. Though character behavior is very 50s with a lack of non-whites and expected gender roles, the plot is the timeless question of whether great power belongs in the hands of one or many men. Plus you get to compare Leslie Nielsen's 1950s speaking voice with his modern one.

If you have never seen it, you are missing a great moment in scifi movies. A little dated now, but still a great watch. This would be like Star War's great great grandfather. No, it doesn't share any plot, it is just that far ahead of it's time. Enjoy!
