Also it addresses the fundamental problem of mankind --- the monsters that lurk in our hearts. Only I look at it from a Biblical perspective, not an evolutionary one. But the same principal still applies. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Great classic storyline. I first saw this movie as a 6 year old child and 43 years later still love the film. If someone with todays technology in the film making industry would remake this fine classic it could truly be even more outstanding than it already is. Simply a great sci-fi classic. The special effects are still pretty good, even for today's standards. The acting is decent, but it's the plotline that truly shines - a little Shakespeare, combined with some Freud, and shaken up to produce an interesting, entertaining movie. Definitely worth watching! Read More A superb example of science fiction made 50 years ago. This film probably has the first use of pulse lasers, hyperspace, molecular generation & video phones. It uses the 3-man away team (capt./first officer/doctor) used in Star Trek 12 years later. Though character behavior is very 50s with a lack of non-whites and expected gender roles, the plot is the timeless question of whether great power belongs in the hands of one or many men. Plus you get to compare Leslie Nielsen's 1950s speaking voice with his modern one. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
