Very accurate, vivid and exciting war movie. The number 1 movie for all world war II buffs. Dramatic with outstanding special effects! A must see! Bravo both Hanks and Spielburg.

Okay, Here's the deal. I love this movie, every time it's on I can not turn away. I've read some S. Ambrose books about WWII and his style is felt throughout this movie. Beware howerver, it is graphic... I've won't let my 10 yr old watch it and I really want him to understand the impact of war. Once he is old enough I will sit down with him and watch it. The thing is I tried to rent it twice through blockbuster online and I keep getting the "Bonus Feature" disk rather than the actual movie! Very fustrating.

Many morals and purposes to be drawn from this excellent movie. An homage to maturity, manhood, brotherhood and doing the "right thing", Private Ryan showcases the consistantly superior acting of Tom Hanks and an ensemble of wonderful actors as they skillfully pursue their objective and work through their moral dilemma of potentially sacrificing themselves to save just one man. The movie is a tribute to our parents and grandparents who came together when the world needed them to overcome tyranny and barbarism. I have never seen a finer film about this war. I may have never seen a finer film about any topic. The conclusion is deeply moving.

I thought this movie was powerful and fantastic. I can't believe they went through all that trouble just to save one family in the country of America. Five STARS!!!

The bloody, brutal, sickening scenes of violence are out of sync with the one-dimensional characters. If we are forced to see the carnage, aren't we also due a virtuosic portrayal of the men who fought the war? With such a serious topic, if you do one, it's your responsibility to do the other. When this movie first came out, the violence was more graphic than anything anyone had put on screen before. Now its not so shocking. That's the only way this film advanced anything in my opinion. A much better and more balanced WWII film is "Come and See."
