Read MoreThis movie a surprise for me. Especially after the opening scene. I am not a prude, but I really don't care for an abundance of nudity, sex, foul language. Being that this is supposedly a true story, I guess to be realistic, the nudity had to be thrown in. However, the acting, direction, costumes, editing, photography... virtually everything was superb. A really Beautiful movie that I am recommending. I hope it gets edited for TV soon & I hope that editing makes it suitable for adolescent ages & above, because I think it is a worthwhile film for all.. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

I loved this movie! Catherine McCormack and Rufus Sewell delivered outstanding performances. It was enganging, with wonderful dialogue, beautiful Venetian scenery, and a well constructed story. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Veronica Franco's real life was much more interesting. Too many montages, not enough obstacles. I never truly felt afraid for any of the characters, or any other perceivable emotions. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreWhen will directors and screenwriters ever learn that polemics aren't entertaining? This movie was so ridiculous from beginning to end (the ending was so Hollywoodesque, it made me want to either laugh out loud or vomit). I mean, for one, the writer actually expects us to believe that a mother would teach her daughter to become a courtesan. Not only that, but that the daughter would then enjoy it--on her first try, no less! And this in wealthy 16th Century Venice, not in some impoverished ghetto. And to make matters worse, we're made to believe that the lead character is leading some sort of feminist revolution, not by crusading in favor of universal suffrage, but by having sex with all the wealthy men in town. Couldn't watch more than 10 minutes of the movie. BORING! Also perverse. Unatractive females ride in a boat topless with children on the steets looking on. Too weird. Don't waste your time. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
