Read More I resisted watching this movie for so long because highly acclaimed films almost always disappoint me (Titanic, Forest Gump, etc.) I was totally wrong this time. My wife picked this one out and I ended up watching it. Wow. By now you've probably read the synopsis, which is really too bad. This movie is much better without knowing anything about it before watching it. All I knew is that it was critically acclaimed and took place in Italy. This movie left me deeply moved and wrenched from me a rare five stars without a second thought. One of the greatest films... one of the greatest *stories* of all time. The main character (Guido) was a mite too silly and talked too fast. But it did not take too long before it was easy to really like the guy and his love of life. It was quite a contrast when the movie took a more serious turn, but his spirit was never dampened. I was deeply touched by this movie and would highly recommend it to anyone. I heard that you need to listen to the default Italian spoken version (with English subtitles if need be) to enjoy this the most. You have to be a fast reader though. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful What a powerful story of a man who finds love and how he shares it with his family through one of the darkest times in our history. Courage in the face of death to protected the ones you love is of the highest calling and not for the faint at heart.WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Read More While this movie does follow the life of a "silly" lead character (Guido), it brilliantly illustrates in a new light, an event that was horrific and devastating to humanity. Life is Beautiful shows hope and the love a father has for his son, and his wife and how such an event can be overcome by faith, hope and love. While Guido has a silly personality, what makes his role brilliant is that youthful innocence is translated throughout the movie and is what makes the movie priceless! Read More I havenât seen this movie in a while and I would love to see it again and again. This movie combines humor, romance, tragedy, and triumph into a beautiful and moving story. I would recommend âVita e bellaâ to everyone, even those who are not crazy about foreign films and reading subtitles. Roberto Benigni is magnificent and the Italian language is so musical and pleasant to listen to even when you donât understand whatâs being said! I need to own this movie! Read More Guido was so far over the top and the premises of the plot were so strained that it ruined a potentially good film. It had a very interesting - albeit grossly overworked - plotline. If you like vaudeville and dramatic caricature, this is your film. If you are more into plausibility, skip this one. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No
