This is a really fun interpretation of a timeless story. Watch it with your kids. You'll love it. Told one moment with the touching, sentimental sweetness of Idle's poetic, river-loving "Ratty" and Coogan's kind but insecure "Mole," then suddenly bursting with buffoonery and reckless disregard as Toad hits the screen. The Evil Weasels are comical enough not to be terribly frightening, but they are definitely dark so use your judgment regarding smaller children. If you already like Eric Idle and Terry Jones you will be thrilled to see them play roles you'd never imagined. And if you never really liked them before? Well, give them a chance here. I'm not a big fan of most of Jones' movies he has directed, but this is very sweet and entertaining. And the costumes are perfect...More like suggestions than costumes.

The kids really enjoyed this movie and felt it reflected the Wind in The Willows book well. But we all felt that it was not really appropriate for younger than ages 6-7 or for kids that scare easily.

I agree that the movie uses too many frightening visual effects that make the movie unwatchable by small children. As an adult, I did not feel the movie was enjoyable, and as a family, we ended up turning it off about 2/3 way through, since it never seemed to get better.

Worth watching. Maybe Not for under 5-6 years old. I think might scare. 9 year old loved it!
