Gore Verbinski, the TV-commercials director responsible for the Budweiser frogs, directed this Adam Rifkin screenplay about two brothers (Nathan Lane and Lee Evans) who inherit a string factory and a decaying country home after the death of their father (the late William Hickey, in his last role). After moving in, they learn that the house has historical architectural importance and is valued in the millions. However, they are constantly tormented by a mouse within the walls. They engage in cartoon-like combat against the rodent, but it manages to outwit the brothers in successive situations. Both live and animatronic mice portray the title role, and some scenes assume the mouse's point of view. The film is dedicated to William Hickey. ~ Bhob Stewart, Rovi

One of the VERY FEW Family Movies that I would recommend. Original and Unpredictable. 1000 times better than "The Pacifier" or "Are We There Yet" or any of the other cookie cutter comedies that hollywood keeps flushing out of the toilet and into theaters.

Has to be my favorite "PG" movie, though it's not really for the kiddies. Black humor reigns supreme and Nathan Lane is hilarious. The Scene at the vet is a classic, poor little kitty, and I'm not talking about Katzilla. Watch carefully.

This movie should be rated PG-13. There is a scene where a character is wearing a trench coat and is naked underneath. He flashes his girlfriend as she reclines seductively atop a desk. He later describes how they made love in ways he had never done before. Let me tell you, I immediately turned off the movie. I had a 5 yr. old, 7 yr. old., and an 8 yr. old watching this. I was disappointd that this was not mentioned in reviews. So I will. Obviously, we did not see the end. Not a film for young children.

Very funny. Great story and most entertaining. All the actors did a great job. Chris Walken brought in a neat twist. Mr. Nathan Lane and Mr. Lee Evans turned in great performances. I've seen this one twice and had a fun time!

a little ridiculous, but great for the kids and bearable for the adults

After you get past the first scene with a dead body flying into a sewer and another person choking to death, the only part that is funny for kids are the parts with the mouse in it. The rest of it should have hit the cutting floor.
