This is not a movie to watch if you want light entertainment. It deals with drug and alcohol abuse, and how lives can be torn apart and dreams shattered. Matthew Modine is exceptional as Matty, a self absorbed celebrity whose selfish hedonism destroys and corrupts all that is good in his life. Dennis Hopper is excellent as always as Matty's sleazy night club owner friend. It is a little convoluted at times, but not enough to detract from the fascination of this film.
