The third of John Woo's American-made feature films, Face/Off stars John Travolta as Sean Archer, an FBI agent obsessed with capturing Castor Troy (Nicolas Cage), a criminal genius who years before killed Archer's son while trying to assassinate the agent. Archer's single-minded pursuit of Troy has caused serious harm to his marriage, but Archer thinks the light may have appeared at the end of the tunnel when a seriously wounded Troy is captured in a bloody shootout. However, it turns out that Troy has planted a time bomb, with a biological payload that could destroy the entire city of Los Angeles -- and Troy isn't about to say where it is. The only other person who knows the bomb's location is Troy's brother, Pollux (Alessandro Nivola), who is no more helpful than Castor. FBI scientists hatch a plan: they have developed an experimental surgery which would allow them to graft Troy's face temporarily on Archer's head and allow him to question Pollux as if he were his brother. But after Archer has taken Troy's face, Troy regains consciousness and forces the doctors to give him Archer's face. Now the criminal mastermind has the FBI at his disposal, and the lawman is underground with few places to turn. Along with Woo's usual elaborately choreographed action scenes, Face/Off features a number of notable supporting performances, including Joan Allen as Archer's wife, Colm Feore and C.C.H. Pounder as FBI scientists, and Gina Gershon as Troy's loyal but long-suffering girlfriend. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

This movie was one of my favorite's. Kept my eyes open from the begining to the end. Nicolas Cage is great in this movie. I still look at this movie over and over.

Entertaining enough. Lots of shooting and action. Also, pretty cheesy and unbelievable. The one redeeming factor--John Travolta really had Nicolas Cage's voice mimicked perfectly!

John Travolta is one greay actor. Him and Nicolas Cage did a good job on this movie. And I like great action flicks.

I love action movies and special effects, and I also love Travolta and Cage. This movie is a rollicking good time from start to finish. The premise is wonderfully creepy. The only poor part is that they expect us to believe that by switching faces, Travolta & Cage also magically get eachother's vey different body type. But that's okay. It's so fun that I forgive them that. I highly recommend it.

I go back and re rent this movie every couple of years, to see again. It is that good !! 2 of my favorite actors for sure. Great performances. Keeps you sitting in one place the whole time. Great action movie! Do not miss this one.

I did enjoy this movie, but it's quite unbelievable that someone would go as far as to completely reconstruct their whole face in order to find where a bomb is, especially when it's your worst enemy's face. I hadn't seen this movie in a very long time and I actually thought that Castor Troy (Nicolas Cage) was the one who made the switch between his and Sean Archer's (John Travolta) face to ruin Archer's life or such, then it would probably be more believable. John Travolta's acting as the criminal and Nicolas Cage's crazy faces were pretty awesome along with Nicolas Cage's acting as the criminal.

Too many frames spent on stunt shots and angles along with an inability to suspend our disbelief makes this movie an overly long, suspenseful stunt film. While Cage and Travolta do justice to the poorly written characters the script couldn't carry the plot.

This movie is a great movie if you're 12. Otherwise you'll see through the plot holes, the cheesy "made-for-the-trailer" scenes (I mean come on, having them look into a mirror as they face each other? *gag*), and the over-the-top (in a bad way) action scenes. A little spoiler, but the end fight lasts forever and they fight on land, sea, air.... I kept waiting for them to hitch a ride on a space shuttle to fight on the space station. I saw this in the theater when it came out and was SO BAD that I remember it in detail. I personally find the 2 leading actors as cheesy and over-rated as this movie. Save your rental for Waterworld or Ishtar or something.

I read the reviews/all sounded great/however when we watched it - found it hard to follow/more sci-fi and not realistic/the best part was the ending
