Carrey does a good job of being the "dad you love to hate but are pulling for anyway" in this film. It's simple and highly dependent on Carrey's gags but a very touching message none-the-less. It may be too graphic for younger viewers due to some of the courtroom references to sex. So that would be a mark against the family rating. But the over all message is pure family.
