I can see why this movie won so many awards. Although it is slow, the entire movie has to be watched to have the impact it did on me. I have watched numerous Holocaust movies, each one telling a little different view or story. The courageous survival of young Alex shows that no matter what life throws at us, we can over come. Never give up hope, do not give your dream away. This is one of the few movies in this genre that actually ends on a happy note. If you enjoy these types of movies, you will be moved by this performance. As I noted earlier, it is very slow, however holocaust movies are not meant to be action films. Don't pass this one up
