I was surprised that it was done so well. The only drawback was that the background noise sometimes made it hard to hear the conversations. I even watched the extras and was surprised by the actions of the locals at the show's debut. These are definitely worth watching as they make you aware of the political climate, the threats made to the film maker and the threats to men's ideas that their women might want more than tradition allows. Read More Although we have seen Deepa Mehta's wonderful film "Water", this was a surprise in the frankness of the theme. The story was beautifully told, and the disputed scenes seem to be a natural result of two very frustrated wives. It was instructive to see the scenes of protest in India after the release of the film there. I guess Hindus and Muslims must be pretty united regarding lesbianism. It showed in their eyes. Against all odds and against their religion and even beliefs, they find a way for love to prevail. India is is the Love Fantasy capitol of the world. Here is another reason why. There is only one nude scene, and even then it is not much. What enthralled me was the storyline; Deepa Mehta did a wonderful job! Read More Beavis and Butthead would like this movie because it has lesbians, nudity and FIRE! Seriously though, I liked this movie more than just because of the girl kissing scenes, it shows how conservative Indian religious beliefs and gay lifestyles don't mix well like here in the US. The movie also mentions how other minorities have been mistreated in India. Homosexuality exists everywhere whether people like or not. You hear me President Amendinajad?
