Read More Nero was a deranged anti-christ, who kicked his pregnant wife to death. This movie depicts him as dreamer who believed in perfect communion of people living in Rome. He ranks higher in evil than Hitler and the like. He would wear a beast mask and go into prisons and rape prisoners. He set christians on fire to light his parties. He was murdered with a fatal wound to the neck and was seen walking about Rome after. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

Did you know that Nero wanted to set the slaves free and make a more just world? According to this movie it is so. It was bad advisors, drugs and loose women who caused him to kill his step-brother, Britanicus, and his own mother. Give me a break! Don't watch this movie if you know anything about the history of Rome. You'll spend most of your time rolling your eyes or shouting at the screen. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? This movie should have shown more of the context of the reign. As it was, it was bland and way too long. Nero is portrayed as an avid reformer and populist. Sounds like today's politics, however, our politicians don't kill rivals. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No

In my opinion, the credits were the most exciting part of the movie. Bad acting, disjointed scenes, and portions of the movie that left me asking out loud "huh?". Ok, so you get the idea....you'll have a better time poking yourself in the eye while singing show tunes. Close this Review WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes | No |
