Boys (1996)

Boys (1996)
Member Rating:
Boys is a coming-of-age tale about an addled prep school student who nurses a woman back to health after an accident and becomes involved in her cryptic past. John Baker Jr. (Lukas Haas) is a tormented high school senior outcast who's weary of his upper-crust boarding school life and dreads his future as a supermarket chain manager. When he finds Patty Vare (Winona Ryder) unconscious in a field after being thrown from a horse, Baker sees this as an opportunity to break out of his humdrum existence, and he smuggles her into the school to take care of her. The relationship blooms into a somewhat bizarre love affair, as John discovers that Patty is concealing a mysterious secret involving a missing baseball player and a stolen car. Although the film takes a little time to get started, what originates as an analysis of guarded youths making foolish judgments evolves into a celebration of adolescent insurrection. ~ Don Kaye, Rovi

Pros:Ms. Ryder is awesome in this flick! Lukas Haas is almost convincing in quest to find out where Ryder's character really belongs. Cons:The story is slow to start off, but eventually gains more of viewer attention especially in the final moments of the film. Bottom line: While imaginative in the films efforts to provide intrigue, the story will keep you guessing to the very end! :)

I checked this out because of Winona Ryder, because I love her, but even she couldn't save this film. A lot of it was painful to watch, because some characters were just SO terrible. There are some good parts, but for this movie, I would say just SKIP IT, unless you're a really big Winona Ryder/other actor fan.

This is a movie where in order for attention, girl acts like a -, makes a mistake, gets rescued by a bumbling boy, realizes that she didn't have to act like a - for attention , and that she is still too good for the boy. The end.
