This is the first unfunny Don Knotts movie I've seen. It was so dull, we couldn't even finish watching it. The premise is funny enough that we looked forward to it. Unfortunately, it just did not live up to it. "Uneven" does not begin to describe this movie. It seemed obvious that there would be a certain amount of gratuitous skin, and there was, but not enough to be considered overly titillating in the twenty-first century. As satire, it dawdled too long to make an effective point. And as comedy, the movie was just too tired, the setups too long, and the punchlines not worth waiting for. I laughed more describing "How to Frame a Figg" or "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken" than I did watching the half of this I could force myself to get through.

This movie was a disappointment. There were some funny parts, but I was surprised at Don Knotts being in a movie of this type. The most offensive thing was the soft porn pictures shown. There was a lot of suggestive material throughout the movie. Actually, this movie couldn't really decide what it wanted to be - it was mostly a comedy, but it also seemed to be trying to make a social statement. Some of the plot just didn't seem to make sense. It was very uneven. I much prefer Don Knotts' other movies like The Reluctant Astronaut and The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.

I've always been a fan of this movie. I remember seeing it years ago. It has alway been and always will be a favorite Don Knotts movie along with "How to Frame a Fig." These other reviews do not do it justice and apparently do not recognize a good artsy comedy when they see it.
