I just loved Christ Stopped at Eboli because it shows a very wise political prisoner making the most of his banishment to an isolated village and creating a new life for himself among the people. The acting was superb, esp. the prime role played by Gian Maria Volunte. It is a bit slow moving, but that is intentional as part of the process of adjustment as Carlo Levi, the main character, adjusts to his new village.

great movie, they do not make films like that anymore, great acting and very good story, thanks.

A great story but the fimmaking lacked teeth. Considering that Rosi is a great director, this seemed more like a film for TV and had none of the edgy neo-Realism techniques that made his other films so striking.
