All in all I thought this movie was very well put together. It was a movie based on a book and it held the story very well. Also, the acting was good and it kept my attention. However I can definitely see why some people would not like this movie. There wasn't much action (like the preview might suggest) and the story is mainly a love story so there are a lot of 'deep' moments where if you're not into it I can see how those moments might be a bit laughable. I read the book from an adult perspective so seeing teens in love did seem a bit sappy, but I still enjoyed this movie. Probably won't ever watch it again though.

Really good adaptation and well-done film. Acting was about standard for a teen/sci fi flick but nothing too bad. I loved the book and was pleasantly surprised with the film. Definitely worth watching

I am Mrs. Thomas O -- 68 yrs old, a mother and a grandmother, and I loved this movie! Had I only read the reviews and seen the trailer, I would not have gone to see it. However, my daughter, who had read the book, asked me to go with her. The Host held my interest all the way through. It is NOT a weird possession movie. The souls are altruistic. Yes, they take over a body and push out the previous occupant; but at least with good intentions. It made me think of the fact that we are created in God's Image, but w/free will. The Souls in the movie eliminate the free will of humans. What if we all just worked on enlarging our God's Image of Love as we are, we could still work wonders on our world! See the movie!
