But Uxbal is also a criminal who oversees a small underground empire alongside fellow crime boss Hai (Taisheng Cheng) and Uxbal's impulsive brother, Tito (Eduard Fernández). Uxbal's dealings range from drugs to construction, but unlike his partners in crime, he tries to treat those around him with dignity even as he trades in human misery. MASTERPIECE!!! Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's proves his artistic genius once again. If you liked Loves a B_-_-ch, 21 Grams, and Babel then you will surely love this one. Words can't describe this.

I highly recommend this movie. Javier Bardem, once again, delivers a great performance. His portrayal of the main character is authentic and intriguing.

This review will be a "ditto" for another movie, so don't think it's just a slamming reviewer. This movie is not good. It is not only unpleasant and strangely slow...it's not particularly memorable. In fact, I only watched half of it months and months ago, forgot that, and rented it again -- only to realize my error about ten minutes in. Javier Bardem is a great actor, but this movie is boring.
