I think this is as realistic as it gets in terms of how love can quickly develop from out of nowhere, then suddenly out of nowhere love shatters to pieces. Being in love is so uplifting and fun, yet being out of love is so depressing and sad. Both Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams relate this story very well even if we've heard this story before. Funny, how this kind of story happens so frequently in real life, yet people still can't figure out why it happens so frequently. Their little girl is what keeps the best of them in tact. The rest of the world has tore the best of them apart. Yet, even by they end I found myself sad, yet optimistic that these two people may find that love again. Worth watching even though so many found this movie depressing, it just isn't by design meant to lift spirits. If you want to see a film with a happily ever after ending than watch most any other romance film. This film is how love comes together and how the burdens of life rip love apart.

It was sad, but real. I felt bad for the husband who would do anything to keep his wife from falling out of love with him again.
