Some aspects of this movie were good. Rip Torn and David Bowie gave excellent cameo role performances. Josh Hartnett did a good job with the role he was given, but the plot left way too much detail that had to be guessed at. As a film about the dot.com crash, this one missed the bus. What did Landshark or was it Land Shark propose to do as a business? No clue. The family roots, rivalries, etc. had potential, but also missed the bus. A most promising film that missed its mark.

This was a very good movie that got poor reviews because it required industry inside knowledge. The movie really captured the hysteria and hype of the dot-com boom/bust days. The technical jargon, as well as the whole industry speak, which is often so poorly done in movies, was excellent, but probably left many people who were not involved in the industry baffled.I thought Josh Harnett, who I always thought of as a limited pretty boy, did an excellent job and way exceeded my expectations.

From the get go you are completely lost and just kinda hope that since Josh is playing the playboy bad boy that it'll just catch you up later. That's a big no, sure I understand the tech boom and the internet back then but the movie never says what his company really does. The other part that was a put off was them bouncing around to all his other problems, I know they were just trying to show that everything was falling apart around him but it was a little too much for the viewer to take it. You kinda feel like you are reading a cliff's notes version of the movie because nothing is really explained fully or resolved.
