Folks, as one who has lived in southern Louisiana for 20+ years, this film captures the place as it really is better than any I've seen, and that's not necessarily good. The film itself is a bit disjointed and even goofy at times - probably because it tries to retain too much of the book on which it is credited to be based. The title for the film is wrong, too. Jones is Jones, no acting needed, handsomely ugly and growly as ever. Steenburgen and Beatty are wasted (as actors), as is the potentially hot Kelly MacDonald. But the film folks really do get Louisiana on film (made in part with Louisiana tax credits) - and a glimpse into the incestuous nature of the watery, moldy, junky, larcenous place where only those native born seem to want to wallow and live. Jones needs to move toward some different genres to extend his career.

Outstanding baby. Great lawman. My kind of find 'em, get rid of them, and the rest can live in peace and quiet. Loved it. Need more law like this one. Thanks TLJ.
