Independent-minded single mother Donna (Meryl Streep) has always done her best to raise her spirited daughter, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), while simultaneously running a successful hotel on a small Greek island, but now the time has come for this hardworking mom to finally let go. In just a few days, Sophie will be married, and Donna will stand by bittersweetly as her little girl takes flight. Of course, Donna's lifelong friends Rosie (Julie Walters) and Tanya (Christine Baranski) will both be present at the wedding, but unbeknownst to the mother, Sophie has furtively invited three very special guests of her own. A really joyful evening when viewed on Blu-Ray and a good 5.1 or 7.1 DTS Dolby surround home system and screen. OK, the cast can't sing as well as the real ABBA; but they do a fine job entertaining and the songs are rousing and nicely orchestrated and produced. Think of it as a Mountain Dew float, like at a malt shoppe. High-octane fun bringing the stage beautifully to the screen. All the actors, especially Amanda Seyfried and the 3 "fathers" do a winning job. While slightly a chick-flick, as a guy it was enjoyed very much. The Greek Isles scenes are spectacular. This is one of my favorites, not quite but nearly on a par with "Phantom" and "The Sound of Music" for musical home theatre though this likely won't become a classic. Overall, BRAVO!
