This movie blew chunks. There are way better martial arts flix from the 70's-80's like Shogun Assassin, Zatoichi, Master Killer. This movie is like Kung Fu for kids.

Some really cheesey FX and some bad acting/ voiceovers. There are better Dragon Dynasty movies out there (Born to Fight, the Protector).

The movie is hard to categorize, while Dan Chupong reminds you of a developing Tony Jaa, the movie feels like a Thai version of Iron Monkey (the hero fights buffalo bandits and returns the bovines to poor farmers). It has a little bit of everything - rockets (the hero even rides a big one in a scene); dueling voodoo/magicians; a tall villian who berserks when he's hungry; plenty of knees to various parts of the body and a youthful love story. All this may seem a strange combo for a movie set in the 1850s but fortunately it does not take itself seriously. While the action is not at par with Jaa's movies, this one still delivers on average entertainment.
