The Stepfather (1987)

The Stepfather (1987)
Member Rating:
Terry O'Quinn plays The Stepfather in this intelligent, unsettling chiller. We'd tell you O'Quinn's character name, but he has so many. You see, O'Quinn has been a stepfather many times over, romancing and marrying widowed women in several different states. After each wedding, everything is blissful -- at least, until O'Quinn's new wife and kids fail to measure up to his notions of perfection. Then he kills them en masse, and moves on to his next victims. Shelley Hack and Jill Schoelen co-star as O'Quinn's latest wife and stepdaughter, who prove to be yet another disappointment to him. An adroit witches' blend of Ozzie & Harriet and Psycho, The Stepfather was scripted by suspense veteran Donald E. Westlake. A lesser sequel, Stepfather 2, followed in 1989. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

This is definitely worth seeing If you like thrillers and can tolerate the elevator-like music interspersed in so many of our favorite movies from the 80s. It is fun to see a young Terry O'Quinn ('John Locke' from Lost series) play one of his first roles as a "crazy".

From the day in junior high, when i told 1 of my buddies i love scary movies,he told me about this movie out on vhs(lol) @ the time & ever since its been 1 of my faves ,O'quinn played his character to the t as a crazy bipolar, schitzo or whatever man.The late Heath Ledger(RIP) won an award for his role as the Joker, which was awesome! If they gave out awards for scary movies,Terry O'quinn would of won for this. They could of kept the remake,it lacked the character this 1 had.I need to say no more...
