I don't enjoy Chris Rock at his usual 'adult' R-rated level, but I do love his insights -- humorous and/or thoughtful. This show is the perfect mix for me -- his adult perspective family humor/insights and reminiscent of my growing up years in a white Bronx household in a well-integrated neighborhood.
This is not what you'd expect from "dirty" comedian Chris Rock. That may be good if you're a parent looking for something somewhat safe for your kids to watch (though it does deal with "real" family issues, including things like being hot for the neighbor girl, and so on).
But it's not good if you're a Rock fan looking for his particular brand of humor.
I knew it was going to be a "clean" Chris Rock, but I did not expect it to be like a "ghetto" "Wonder Years".
While it is humorous and occasionally funny, mostly I'd just say it's "cute", and "cute" does not a sit-com make.
Your kids might like this, but as an adult I found it just too too "cute" and not funny enough.
I'd like to see them turn Rock loose for an HBO adult sit com, because this does show he has the ability to create a sit-com. Until then, I'll stick to his stand-up dvd's and recommend that you do the same.
