This would be a so so chick flick about a girl (sarah M Geller-)who dates a man twice her age(alec balwin). He's old enough to be her father, so of course he offers sage advice to her about her career. He's a ladies man.And eventually he purposes marriage to her. But other than that, the movie is not that great. The actors try to do a solid job of acting but are fighting against a poorly written script, which is ironic since the WHOLE movie is about two editors in the publishing business!! It's a run of the mill --so-- so- movie .And super close camera closeups of sarah m gellers face are NOT that appetizing!!. I'm giving this movie zero stars for poor script and plot, but two stars for acting effort on part of geller and baldwin. They TRIED to save a sinking ship and did not suceeed. Hopefully Alec baldwin can find better scripts than this junk to work with. And this will not go down as Sarah M Gellers' best work either. If you dont see this movie- you will have missed nothing!!!!!
It was a little hard to accept what the attraction was between the lead characters, other than father/daughter-like relationship with sex. It's an OK movie if you don't have anything else to do
This was a terrible rip-off on the far far FAR better SHOP GIRL. Suburban Girl's (geez they even ripped off the title a bit) story was very weak. Alec Baldwin? Paunchy - creepy Sarah Michelle Gellar? Gaunt - wooden I NEVER bought the relationship between these two - give me a break. Pass this one by and rent the far superior and quite beautiful & intelligent Shop Girl instead of this dollar-store rip-off.
