I don't think anyone will fault me if I say this movie is an unofficial sequel to Napoleon Dynamite. It has the same pacing, the same feel - it even using a nerdy, hand-drawn motif in some scenes. Nevertheless, I'd argue this film has more heart. Jemaine Clement, already half of the hilarious duo "Flight of the Conchords," plays a nerd named (sigh) Jarrod who has a crush on a girl, but makes up stories to keep her interested. He doesn't need to, but he has a serious inferiority complex due to a tragedy in his life. It all plays out nicely. I'd rank it higher, but it feels too much like a Napoleon Dynamite rip-off to warrant it. Good movie, nevertheless.

This movie is one of those movies were half the people who watch it will love it, and the other half will not understand the satire and quirkiness of the movie. It reminded me alot of Napolean Dynamite and I would say the humor is exactly the same. I saw this movie in the theater (free showing!) and I enjoyed it. Not an amazing plot, but has a colorful variety of characters and there are some cute "puppy-love" scenes where the girl really tries to impress the main guy. Overall, it shouldn't be the highest priority on your "Must See Movies" list, but if you ever come across it, its not bad at all. Hopefully you will understand the humor behind it like I did and actually really enjoy it!!

This is a cute and quirky movie. It reminded me of a grown up version of Napoleon Dynamite. I had no idea what to expect but I am so glad we rented this one. It's sweet, funny, and awkward at times.
