Carlos Mencia: No Strings Attached - Live, Extended and Uncensored (2006)
Member Rating:
Observance and politically-incorrect comic Carlos Mencia commands the stage of San Francisco's Warfield Theater for an audacious night of no-holds-barred comedy that covers a wide ranging variety of topics ranging from religion and diversity to terrorism and race. Few comics can offer such astute observations about such sensitive issues as Mencia, and when the bad boy comic gets on a roll about the pope or the handicapped, he truly brings out the absurdity of day-to-day life as few other comedians can. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I love ya Carlos but you let me down man! Not only have I viewed this material on TV, of all places, Even the uncut version wasn't fresh... ...And you have made your point with the "F- BOMBS"- do not be afraid to show your education. Use your great vocabulary. I have heard some of your interviews for radio, and Dude, you are very funny and have an articulate way of getting your point across that I believe accomplishes your goal. Be real-Carlos- Talk to me- not like some ordinary beaner who has made a lot of money and now doesn't know jack about the world but what his home boys tell him. Ditch the West Caost Ride for a while, Leave the $ leather$ at home, and take your family to the movies and pizza. Hang in the Arcade and talk to the "Det-DE-DEE 's"-get back in touch- see ya on the street!

This suuuucked. This guy used to be talented. His comedy used to sound more intelligent. Now it just sounds like BEE-ESS stories of how many times he can wrap himself with the American flag. This DVD seems to be made for tea party simpletons.

Now I'lll admit that my opinion of Mencia and his material has changed ever since the accusations of him stealing other comedians jokes (how could it not). But I still watched this with as much of a unbiased mind as possible. Sadly, it still didnt help. There are some funny stories in here, dont get me wrong, but most of the jokes just seemed kinda bland. He either drives a good joke to the ground with his over exagerrated antics or just becomes redundant with the same topics on race. I don't have any problem with comedians who attempt to neuter ignorance and racism by mocking it (ie Dave Chappelle, Richard Pryor, etc.) but Carlos Mencia doesn't mock racism, he revels in it. And dont get me started with stolen material I've seen on here myself (at the least 2: the teaching the son to play football story (Bill Cosby), and the who's gonna build the border fence joke (Ari Shaffir). It's just hard to watch him perform and accept him as a legit funny man, and this video doesnt help.
