Lautlos was mentioned in the film, but it never occured to me that it might mean soundless. I hated the fact that it was subtitled in English. At first, I started to turn it off, because it bothered me that it was in German. After ten minutes or maybe fifteen it had me hooked in the story so it did not bother me. If you like the sniper movies then this one will be a hit. The hitman shows that he has a soft spot and might regret his life, but she saves him in the end through her courage to believe in him. The police officer suprises me in the end when he lets him quit his life and protects his identity. It was great if you are in the mood for a thriller and do not mind reading subtitles.

If the idea appeals of a contract killer whose modus operandi is never to make a sound as he "offs" his victims, then the German thriller SOUNDLESS might just manage to carry you through its 90-odd minutes. This is one of those "concept" movies whose concept appears interesting only until you start thinking about it for a moment or two. Next problem: the killer decides not to kill the innocent bed-mate of his victim, instead falling in love with her & saving her from a suicide attempt. This bit of malarkey is dutifully explained via tons of historical baggage that the leading cop discovers about our not-quite-hero as he investigates the latest murder. The woman (and her behavior throughout) is ridiculous, with a reality level approaching zip. (It does not help matters that the very pretty actress who plays her gives a zombie-like performance.) The movie looks awfully good, however--gorgeously photographed and well edited--and a couple of the set-piece murders are handled with panache.
