I love Jane Austin. Pride & Prejudice is my favorite movie. Having said that, if you have problems with adaptations skirting over some of the book details, you might have a hard time swallowing this adaptation. Many of the reasons Darcy is hated in the book and other versions aren't portrayed strongly so we get "Elizabeth" developing dislike not in proportion to the offense the "Darcy" character supposedly gave. If you keep an open mind about the fuzzy details and don't try to compare this movie to other versions or the book, this movie can be in the whole, entertaining. It also helps to have an extremely attractive man play Darcy.

Having watched all things Austin, we (my family and I) wanted to see how a modern day adaptation of the classic work would play out. You don't have to be a mormon (we are Jewish) to appreciate the nuances of a church centered community and the hilarious antics of its youth as they attempt to live clean, untouched lives in the midst of life's various challenges. We laughed so hard and found that the movie was engaging and well written, with the acting utterly convincing and the chemistry exceptional. Kudos to Andrew Black for producing a great, clean comedy which didn't require us to cover our children's eyes or ask them to cover their ears. One of our favorite films... we've watched it numerous times and show it to many of our friends who come to visit.

Being a huge lover of Jane Austin I wanted to see what a modern rendition would be like. If you want a strict interpretation of Pride and Prejudice you will be annoyed. However, though there are many strays from the book, the movie did not disappoint in romance or fun. It was full of humor and really just an enjoyable film to watch. Very well written and acted.
