Renegade (2004)
Member Rating:
From Jan Kounen, the French director of the violent cult actioner Dobermann, comes this loose adaptation of Jean "Mobius" Giraud's comic series Blueberry. Vincent Cassel stars as Mike Blueberry, a lawman whose past comes back to haunt him when his town is invaded by the nefarious Blount (Michael Madsen), the man responsible for his first love's murder. Led by a German con man by the name of Prosit (an unrecognizable Eddie Izzard), Blount and his crew search for an ancient treasure buried deep within Indian tribal grounds, while Blueberry and his Indian friend Runi (Temuera Morrison) race to keep the land sacred and stop the thieves by any means possible. Featuring Juliette Lewis and her father, Geoffrey Lewis, in supporting roles, the film sports a solid American cast that boasts an additional performance by Colm Meaney and a rare appearance by none other than Ernest Borgnine. ~ Jeremy Wheeler, Rovi

Don't let the picture and the ratings fool you.If you have gotten this far to look at the ratings, check it out. There are some famouse american actors in it, I just feel it was badly rated due to it being a western, and the dvd box art.Not many directors make westerns anymore so when one comes out it is harshly judged, and fast. The film altogether was amazing.Far better than The Proposition was, that one being a let down mostly. This film has got good special effects and a fresh story.Totally original.Cowboys and indians, deserts and sacred mountains. It is kind of short for being so good and having a good ending, but not what you might have wanted or expected, but a respectful ending, true to real life more than a regular hollywood ending. This one is worth more than a rental. Its a keeper.

This has the honor of being one of only three movies that ive ever actually stopped watching in the middle of in my life. I then went online, and the general consensus was that the second half was even worse!! Horrible acting on all fronts, especially the lead actor, who was incredibly unconvincing as a clint eastwood wannabe. Terrible directing, that uses the super-quick-cut method that allows you to see nothing going on in fights. The story jumped all over the place and seemed to be many seperate events in no particular order. Truly one of the worst movies that i have ever seen, or will see, in my entire life.
