I agree, if you look further into this movie, you realize just how 'deep' and symbolic it is. The premise is two twenty-something guys working a part-time job that they hate, and question themselves and their future when they are offered full-time employment at the same job. Is that all there is to life? The movie takes a sharp turn about 20 or 25 minutes into it, with the two friends taking much different paths. A jellyfish (yes, a jellyfish) still ties them together. Interesting movie, interesting concept... however, my attention wavered a few times. Overall, though, a pretty good indie-type movie find on Blockbuster.com

Kiyoshi Kurosawa creates a complexly abstract tale of life in modern day Japan. Symbolism abound, it is a tale that is unusually upbeat for a Kurosawa film, and it offers a refreshing hope with regard to the future of humanity and human idealism. If you like artistically rich films, this one is definitely worth a look.
