Extraterrestrial fast-food franchisers come to earth to pick up food supplies-in this case, human flesh. After wiping out a few small towns, the aliens must contend with a team of government assassins, headed by Pete O'Herne. As the plot rolls on, O'Herne's crew is decimated in as gory a manner as possible, and innocent bystander Craig Smith ends up being marinated (and a darned good job it is). Turns out that the space folks are running on a timetable; they've got to return to their home planet with their human-hash cargo before a rival franchise puts them out of business. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Mr. Jackson. Most people know him as the big time writer/director that helmed the "Lord of the Rings" trillogy. What alot of people don't know, though, is where he actually got his start. Something of a god and forerunner of eighties splatter films, he got his start with this little gem right here: "Bad Taste". This title can be taken in two ways. The obvious one is the fact that this movie is in extremely bad taste. The other is that, well humans don't really taste that good, do they? This movie is about members of a alien fast food company who have found the perfect thing to help them avoid bankrupcy: humans. But the government is called in to stop them and hilarity and grossness ensue. While not as extreme and over the top as his "Dead Alive", mother of all splatter films, this movie has a quirky sense of humor that keeps it going all the way to the end. Highly enjoyable if you are into this kind of thing.

This was silly and funny. The cheesy low budget effects keep it from being a total gross-out movie.

Within minutes of the opening credits Derek (Peter Jackson) is trying to hold his brains in with a hat, and this sets the tone as the body count grows, the blood keeps on splattering, and missiles, machetes, chainsaws and erupting spaceships take their toll. Without doubt the movie has been made on a shoe string budget, nonetheless, a dark and twisted brilliant black comedy, from Peter Jackson's team. If you like this you need to check out the teams next splatterfest, originally know as "Braindead". The U.S. version is called "Dead Alive"
