Undercover cop Tony Baretta (Robert Blake) is anxious to clear his partner of a trumped-up shooting charge. To that end, Baretta seeks out the only person who saw the shooting and can tell the truth. Alas, the syndicate also wants to catch up to the witness -- and to silence him for keeps.
