decent escapist movie fare. The description is a bit misleading, as the plaintiff is really suing the insurance company and the churches over the "Act of God" clause. Very respectful of God, actually. Reminded me a lot of "Miracle On 34th Street." It started a bit slow, but pays off in the end (Corny - yes.) Also, gotta love Billy Connelly and Judy Davis together. Nice seeing a romance between middle aged people.

I can't really say anything bad about this movie, Billy Connelly does a wonderful job the script is satisfying and somewhat thought provoking. Just one of those feel good/likeable movies, nothing extraordinary but definitely worth watching. If you liked an everlasting piece but wanted more of Mr Connelly, this is your movie.

Anyone who has ever been shafted by an insurance company can appreciate this movie. All the actors were excellent. The scenery and camera shots were well done. Good directing. The movie deals with how insurance companies use an "act of God" to get away without paying people what they are righfully owed; when they really have no "authority" to say what an "act of God" is, that is why the church, as "God's representatives on this planet", was brought to trial. Very respectful to God, and churches of all denominations. SPOILER................................................................................................In the end it is a "moral victory", I like that. Parts of it were pretty darn funny too...but mostly a drama.
