A new member of the Quest Team was introduced in the Jonny Quest episode "The Monolith Man." While drilling for oil, a team of workers comes across a portal to the earth's core. Called in to investigate, Dr. Quest and his associates find an the remnants of an alien civilization which was buried in volcanic ash thousands of years before. Rescuing the heroes from hostile natives is an "intellectual fossil" named Hardrok, who, despite having been petrified for centuries, is extremely strong and resourceful.
