Passing Stones (2001)

Passing Stones (2001)
Two brothers are brought together under unusual circumstances -- which is the last thing they wanted -- in this offbeat independent comedy. Despite being in his early thirties, Leon (Roger Majkowski) hasn't grown up quite enough to move out of his parents' house, where he has to contend with a nagging mom and an often stoned kid brother. Leon makes pocket money as a delivery man, and one day an aging customer gives him what he's told is a vitally important note just before he dies. Leon can't read the note himself, and is forced to call upon his older brother Gary (Tom Ellis) for help in translating it into English. Gary and Leon don't get along especially well, and things don't get much more harmonious as they try to get to the bottom of the note's cryptic message, which brings them in contact with the late man's feeble wife (Anita Keel) and wildly eccentric daughters (Elizabeth Van Meter and Orlagh Cassidy). Leading man Roger Majkowski also served as writer, director, and editor for Passing Stones, which was shot in black-and-white using digital video equipment. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
