For his impiety in building his grand house on a site which put it higher than the village of Raminerea's church, the grandfather of a local clan was cursed by the village priest, and six of his seven grandchildren have died before their time. The seventh grandchild is a young lady who, as the film opens, is enjoying clandestine sexual liaisons with a young man. However, when the boy in question chooses to marry another, she goes ballistic and shows up at the wedding to make as loud and unpleasant a scene as she can.
