Somewhere in L.A., Peter (Kenneth Branagh), a washed-up British playwright, struggles to duplicate his past glory as he surfs a foul-smelling tide of disenchantment. His wife, Melanie (Robin Wright Penn), manages to maintain an optimistic outlook even as she longs for the baby that her husband is hesitant to help her conceive. When Peter befriends Amy (Suzi Hofrichter), a neighborhood girl who has mild cerebral palsy, their friendship softens him to the idea of fatherhood and propels Melanie's maternal yearnings into hyperdrive. As if baby fever weren't enough, Peter is plagued by a seemingly benevolent stalker (Jared Harris), his neighbors' incessantly noisy dog, and the flighty cast and crew of his latest play. ~ Rebecca Flint Marx, Rovi

I loved this movie. I am a fan of Kenneth Branagh and he didn't let me down. He is a brilliant actor and has terrific comic timing. This movie should have gotten more acclaim because it has a wonderful storyline that shows how people, who are set in their ways, can change. It's also great to see a child with a disability portrayed in a (mostly) positive way. Don't let the title fool you, this movie will leave you with a smile on your face.

I wish I could write/talk/think this intelligently. I laughed through most of this movie and then we talked about it afterwards. How did we not know of this gem earlier? Very very clever, witty, charming, ascerbic, sarcastic and well, almost perfect.
