If you like quirky off beat films where character portrayal is the tail that wags the dog then this is for you. While I am sure it won't appeal to everyone if you like Mickey Rourke and Christopher Walken you will not be disappointed.

The main benefit of this film is to watch (if you are a Rourke fan) Mickey Rourke play an incautious stumblebum prizefighter with no financial or intellectual reserves whatever. As with most Rourke roles, one watches him slough and struggle his way through an amoral wasteland of takers and users. Rourke performance is uneven and his character is both a violent and a touching man who is most often simply lost in the muddle of his own future-less life. While this is not a good film, it is also not a bad film by any means and, for Rourke fans, worth watching.

If you're a Mickey fan, this is a must see. An unusual film, about loss and redemption. Also a peek into the fight game, he was so into at the time. And a real time warp, for me.
