This is quite a good movie if you like absurd comedy. The movie's humor is much like that of the late 70's where, when looking back, you have to wonder what we were thinking. If you liked Night Patrol, Midnight Madness, Scavenger Hunt, and Moving Violations this would be the movie for you.

Just watched this flick last night. Here's why it's worth watching: an interesting cast, a score by John Williams and makeup effects by Stan Winston. The plot: Two androids meet and fall in love in a robot factory. They sneak away from the factory with a Henny Youngman-type robot in tow, wander through the forest and eventually create a child-like robot from spare parts. Covers some of the same ground that Speilberg's A.I. as the robots develop human-like qualities and contemplate the nature of their existence. It was and is billed as a comedy, but Andy Kaufman didn't have much of an opportunity to flex his comic muscles. With the exeception of an out-of-control robot that pursues the main characters while firing machine guns, shooting a flame thrower and spouting Reagan-era, law-and-order nonsense, this movie is fairly benign and would be appropriate for kids if it wasn't so boring. It's only 1 hour and 18 minutes long but seems much longer.

Quite possibly the worst movie I've ever seen. And not in some "awesomely bad" kitschy kind of way. No, it really was terrible. I considered the fact that it might be some sort of Andy-Kaufman-joke-with-no-punchline thing, but I think that he was pretty sincere, which is really, really sad. I don't know what else to say but, Don't waste your time. Please.
